Calvin Klein Watches

Fashion icon Calvin Klein was born in the Bronx, New York in 1942. Klein showed a passion for the fashion industry from a very young age when he, like his counterpart Marc Jacobs, studied at the High School of Art and Design in New York. His next stop was the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, a place where he would never actually graduate but was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2003.

In 1968 Klein took his first foray in to the business market and formed a business with his childhood friend Barry Schwartz. Calvin Klein Limited was also created this year as a coat shop in the York Hotel, New York City. The popular New York boutique store Bonwit Teller was to be Klein’s first buyer. The store specialising in high-end women’s fashion placed an order for several of Klein’s designs and the beginning of the label was born.

Nineteen seventy one saw the beginning of the expansion of the Calvin Klein label and it also saw the label branch out into other ranges including sportswear and lingerie. In 1977, the brand expanded further launching ranges of scarves, shoes and sunglasses. Cosmetics, jeans and menswear were all to follow in 1978 cementing Calvin Klein’s position as a multi-million dollar empire.

Today, Calvin Klein caters for all ends of the market through its 10 subsidiaries around the world, each specialising in a different area of the market. Asia, America, the Far East and Europe are all home to a wide range of stores. The brand’s perfume ranges are also incredibly successful and through their men’s and women’s ranges they now have over 30 different choices.

Calvin Klein has always attracted high-end celebrities both through its advertising campaigns and as its spokespeople. Jerry Hall, Eva Mendes, Diane Kruger and Doutzen Kroes have all represented the brand. The brand is currently represented by Jamie Dornan and Lara Stone.

A Brief Introduction To Seiko Watches

When it comes to fashion and luxury, people generally consider only women to care about these things. The truth is that men also have some wearable fashion and luxury items. Wristwatches are considered as men’s jewellery and thus there are hundreds of prestigious companies manufacturing wristwatches, which are stylish and precious in terms of money value.

With the fashion race getting bigger these days, wristwatches for men are more to make a statement than necessity. Different companies now make gold and silver wristwatches and some even go to the extent of designing them with diamonds and other more precious jewels to add more value to them. Out of all these companies, Seiko would be among the top few if not the best.

The company started with the name Seiko in 1938. However, the original ancestor of the company was a business run by a local clockmaker in Tokyo by the name, Kintaro Hattori. The business was named K. Hattori and later it evolved into a company by the name Seiko corporation, Tokyo. The business originally started as a clock and jewellery shop and in 1892. It began production of clocks under the name Seikosha, which later evolved into Seiko.

Initially the company was named K. Hattori & Co in 1918 and was later named as Hattori Seiko & Co in 1983. Finally, in 1990 it became Seiko corporations. It established various companies under its name such as Seiko Watch Corporation, and became a holding corporation in 2001 and was finally named as Seiko Holdings Corporation in 2007. Although the company produces many different types of clocks and watches, it is particularly famous for its wristwatches.

The first watch was manufactured under the name Seiko in 1924. Seiko also holds the prestige of manufacturing the world’s first quartz watch under the name Astron. This clearly demonstrates the status of Seiko watches in the wristwatches industry. These watches were more expensive than a normal priced car initially, but that was due to their entirely new technology, and because they set a mark that is being followed to date.

Seiko and Orient watches started off as a joint manufacturing plant in 1985, which produced millions of watches every year. Seiko watches were associated with traits like reliability and accurate time keeping, and this is why they are marked as the official timekeepers for the most prestigious sporting events, including the Olympic Games, which is another important success for the brand.

Seiko has launched different varieties of watches, including the well known Seiko 5, Grand Seiko, King Seiko and Credor. Collectors, all around the world, rate these watches as the top choice due to their special features and class of their own. Mechanical watches are something that any collector would wish to own. As far as the Seiko classic watches are concerned, the older the watch is the more value it gains.

Seiko wristwatches range from 50$ to 100,000$, which is certainly a price tag for luxury and high esteem. The Seiko kinetic watches being produced these days take the major portion of their sales in the modern era as they combine the self-energising feature of automatic watches with the high accuracy of quartz in time keeping.
